Couples Counselling
Rebuilding Connections, Restoring Intimacy and Trust
Healthy, intimate relationships can bring a profound sense of stability and happiness to our lives. However, when a relationship hits a rough patch, communication breaks down, or trust is shaken, the resulting emotional pain and distress can often affect every aspect of our lives.
Couples counseling provides a safe, neutral, and understanding space. Here, we’ll work together to explore the deep emotional needs underlying conflicts, break negative cycles, and rebuild a strong connection between you and your partner.
What kinds of issues can couples counselling help resolve?
When relationship issues remain unresolved for a long time, minor disagreements can often snowball into major rifts. If you or your partner are experiencing any of the following concerns or feelings, couples counselling can provide you with professional guidance and support:
-
Communication Cycles and Recurring Arguments: Being trapped in a cycle of endless arguments or emotional detachment; feeling distant from one another, stuck in repetitive patterns of interaction, and blaming each other.
-
Expressing Deep Emotions and Rebuilding Trust: Being unable to express one’s true needs, or having one’s inner feelings masked by emotions.
-
Parenting, Family, and Life Stresses: Serious disagreements regarding child-rearing, one’s nuclear family and extended family, the division of responsibilities, or financial planning.
-
Losing Yourself in a Relationship: Feeling like you’ve lost your voice and sense of self in a relationship.
-
When facing major life changes or decisions about relationships: You may be going through a life upheaval, adjusting to a new baby at home, or feeling uncertain about whether to continue a relationship.
How Can Couples Counselling Help You and Your Partner?
In relationships, we long to be heard, yet we often find ourselves caught in endless, repetitive arguments. My counselling focuses on Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFCT), guiding you beyond superficial conflicts to the core of your connection with one another.
At Chia Mindspace, I provide a warm, inclusive, and non-judgmental safe space where you and your partner can:
-
Identifying Communication Cycles: Helps you recognise the repetitive patterns that drive you apart, stop blaming each other, and understand the true needs behind your arguments.
-
Expressing Deep Emotions: Guide your partner to authentically express their inner vulnerability and needs, rather than pushing the other person away with anger or indifference, and rebuild a secure emotional connection.
-
Building Bridges of Trust: Rebuilding trust and a sense of security, helping both partners feel seen, cherished, and supported in the relationship once again.
-
Support for Personal Growth: In addition to counselling sessions, couples will use practical tools to incorporate healing and change into their daily lives.
Those seemingly routine arguments and negative cycles, if left unaddressed and unresolved over time, often build up into a massive psychological burden. Giving your relationship a chance to heal is an important step in caring for both yourself and your partner.
Frequently Asked Questions
How can I tell if I need counselling?
Counselling provides a space for people to explore challenges and issues in their lives. There is no specific point in time or topic that determines whether you need assistance. However, if you recognise that your mental health or relationships with others are affecting and troubling your life, you can seek professional help to manage your emotions, clarify your thoughts, and adjust your actions to make a difference.
Chia Mindspace is committed to providing unconditional support and care to accompany each client in discovering their inner self. I believe that everyone has their own inner strengths, just like a seed, which thrives in the right environment, sunlight, air and water.
What is the counselling process like?
Often the counselling process utilises talk therapy, in which the client and the counsellor engage in a conversation about a topic that is of concern to the client or relevant to their goals. Other resources may be used in the process, such as articles, videos, or practising techniques.
在首次咨商中,咨商师会为你介绍咨商的保密原则,并以温和的方式引导你分享目前面临的困扰与期待。你不必担心“不知道从何说起”,咨商师会陪伴你一步步梳理。
What type of techniques will the counsellor use?
I typically use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotion-Focused Cognitive Therapy (EFCT), and Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT). My counselling approach is person-centered, so I adapt my methods and techniques to each individual’s needs and circumstances.
How long is a counselling session?
